The End of 2015 and The Beginning of 2016

Hi folks! How are you doing?

I finally take a break from living my kind of “bum life” and so here I am writing my first post in 2016. Year 2015 has finally ended and it was the hardest year I’ve been through so far since God has taken a lot of precious people in my life consecutively. Coming through my calendar in 2016, I have marked several important dates. Oh nope, it’s not holiday dates but 1st death anniversary of my mother and other close relatives. Honestly, not something to be look forward enthusiastically.

In this year too, I will also move on to another important phase in my life: Co-Ass or Clinic Phase. Yup, it’s simply identical with the beginning of crucial phase and tortures in my life. No more carefree life at least for the next 2.5 years. So many bad things has preoccupied my mind for this year ahead, but hopefully good things will also happened to make a balance. I really wish this year to be better than 2015.

Hmm, talking about my “bum life”...... uh, yeah. Since December 8th until now, and probably until the middle of February, I’ve been living out a bum life. Playing gadgets, reading manga, watching anime and dramas, sleeping, going out only for shopping and reunion with friends, etc.

Why?
.

.

.

.
Because I failed my last Objective Structured Clinical Exam (OSCE), in Basic Surgery Skill to be specific. Therefore, I couldn’t move on to the next phase: OSCE-SOCA Comprehensive Exam (OSCA) which is one final selection test before entering Co-Ass Life. So here I am trapped with uncertainity, my Bachelor in Medicine Title is still floating somewhere because of failed OSCE, the campus still hasn’t make announcement when will be the remedial exam, and so as the final results....  I still haven’t studied very seriously in preparing my OSCA which will be held in March 16th for 2nd graduate batch. After I had made sure I have passed the remedial exam for OSCE and legit to be OSCA participant, there I will give my 100% in studying hahha.

The one who has succeed in last OSCE is called 1st graduate batch, therefore could move on to OSCA yesterday. Well, if they failed the OSCA, they will also fell down to my group LOL. OMG, so many uncertainities and now I will definitely make sure my children don’t enter medical school especially my school  ..... unless they have steel determination and don’t complain much :S

But don’t worry. Don’t imagine that sadness and sorrow aura around me. I have made into acceptance phase very quickly. Perhaps, it’s also because 99% of my close friends were with me. We FAILED together, and then we shall PASSED together too .... (AMEN!) There were so many things that I did in the end of 2015 and at the beginning of 2016. Here is some recap of my “bum life” and consider it as a teaser since some of them will be my next post:

Welcome back my Samsung GT N5100

Just a short update about what happened recently in my life .... before I'm continuing my Japan Trip Serial Post. If I would take a conclusion, it's truly like I'm on a Roller Coaster's Peak. After being up, and then you were thrown down very fast. Yeah, after experiencing the most fun and happy times in Medical Education Block, and then I found myself panicking and gone depressed because my tab is lost.

Okay, I know this is super weird, weird enough to make some of my brain cells dead and I had gone into paralysis state on Tuesday morning. About 4 hours after I wrote my frustration and sadness in previous post .......  I got this message when I was having a breakfast before going to uni.

I shouted out loud in the house ((((;゜Д゜)))

I hurried up finishing my meal and went straight to library. Well, after went to library on Saturday, and then 3 times a day on Monday, losing hope, and finally on Tuesday. I'm truly beyond blessed. Every people around me said that I'm very lucky since .... you know, every single person in here would know there is probably 0% chance of finding something when you have gone to that place more than once. I've been visited library like a mad person, asking the same librarian over and over again ... for 2 different days! Even I'm thinking that I'm being annoying, pushy, for something that is lost because of my fault.

Truly this is the work of God and my prayer to Mother Mary :)

Well, some of my close friends who are also my readers suggested me to delete the previous post. But I think I won't. It shall be a reminder of my stupidity and also the proof that how my 3rd week in September began with the peak, thrown to below, and now being raised up in quite flat track but not in a happy way. Well, for sure I knew that someone has do really take my tablet somewhere outside the library or do something inside. Because all the data has been lost and yep... someone broke through my password. Although I had locked it and make the displayed message to contact my number ........ But I won't question it further. All in all, I'm so thankful to this librarian who returned my tablet. Thankyou Babe :)

I'm now in Medical Emergency block, besides the hard material, the environment also make me stressed. We are being placed in K405-406 Room, not in the usual L101. It has 8 AC's but it felt like none of them are functioned. No kidding, it's veeeeeerrrryyyy HOT and by about 12 PM some people have sweated too much and there is this strong smell full of stench.

Sigh, I think it's gonna be another 2 or 3 weeks to continue my Japan Trip Post since I'm still haven't done editing photos on Day 5. Hope I will be able to post it soon after my Mid Block Exam at the next 2 weeks >_<

So, my dear Samsung GT N5100

I bid you my welcome greeting on September 15 :)

Farewell, my Samsung GT N5100

Last weekend is supposed to be a fun, productive weekend for me. I have just finished my first block in 7th term of pre-clinic phase, which is the most fun block I've ever participated in: Medical Education. So after last Friday, I plan to continue my travel diary post, preparing this and that for another long-term post arrangement, also editing zillion of photos to create a photo album of my last trip.

All will be done in my parent's hometown: Bangka. Oh yeay, it sounds good. It's the weekend after block, short getaway to Bangka, and nice ambience to be productive for blogging. Of course, I brought all the gadgets with me: laptop, handphone, my 8" tablet Samsung Note 2.

But it turns out to be the WORST weekend I've ever had....

Well, here is the story...

A Letter to Mom

Hi Mom, how are you there?
I believe you are good and happy in heaven now :)

It has been 6 days since your death and 2 days before was your burial procession. All have been going smooth from the plane tickets, cargo delivery, and you've been transported safe and sound to your resting place in Bangka as you requested.

Things have been quite hectic for all of us since you're gone. I haven't really had a long time to think about you and our times together these 20 years. Our home is still in a mess, especially your wardrobe and document shelf ..... (forgive me please :p) because I searched through and prepared your important documents, clothes and other things to be put inside your coffin, and other preparations for your funeral.

It is now that I sit on the gazebo in grandma's house, gain the moment to look at our photos collection and reminiscing what has already happened.

Friends and relatives mostly asked me "How are you feeling?"
No exact words could describe what I actually felt. I could only answer "Ya...... begitulah" (now I even couldn't find the correct translation for this). It's mixed.

Sad because you're gone
Relieved because you're now free from pain.
No more chemo, no more pleural punction, no more blood aspiration from foot, and other things that inflicted pain to you.

But most of all, I think it's also because my knowledge as medical student that help me to keep my brain as rational as possible. Accepting that it is already the "time" and seeing Dad who's already broken, I've got no other choice rite? I must be strong to support Dad and ease his sorrow.

I do really appreciate sympathy and morale supports from my dear friends and family, all here to remind me that "Life Goes On". That alone also helped my mental recovery to acceptance phase, if not..... I might be entering denial phase and turns into depression syndrome (just like my last term's OSCE Mental Status Examination Case). Thankyou guys, only God could reply your kindness 💙

So many people love you Mom, even vegetable seller and fishmonger also came to funeral home. They will really miss your chatty loud voices shopping for groceries every morning.

Even until the end, you still did your best for all of us and indeed I could see how beautiful His plan for my life. Some people might think my loss is such an unfortunate event in my holiday phase. But looking from all perpectives of view, let's just be grateful for all things that have happened. Yeah, too much things to be thankful for........

You went to heaven exactly 1 day after I finished my trip to Japan. Even during my time there, when I checked upon your condition....you are good and stable, chatty as usual. I was already prepared to gave up on this long planned trip when you were hospitalized in late May because of muscle stiffness and doctor told me that you were already in palliative treatment. But you and Dad still encouraged me to go as planned, gave me the chance to explore my favourite country, and let me spend my time with ease.

You went to heaven on my holiday phase. It's about 1 month before I'm back to campus hectic life, my last term on pre-clinic phase. Luckily, I'm not in any organizational task and KTI things. I could not imagine how difficult it will be if it happens when I'm back to campus, moreover if I'm already in co-ass. The worst case is I might not graduate on time. You knew this all along, from our chats long before, about how my colleagues took a temporary leave because various reasons. One of them is because their mother/father is sick. For sure, I knew that Dad and you always prepared the best for me and won't make things burdensome on me. The best I could do to repay you is to graduate on time :')  Now I could prepare documents for your death certificate, insurance matters, etc calmly because it's still holiday.

From Centipede to Butterfly in Stomach

Hello good people on earth! Now I'm back after a long weeks of absence. The last 2 weeks were simply HELL. I was extremely exhausted since the beginning of June, depressed, and had maximum stress upon facing my 2 FINAL BIG BOSS in 6th term: OSCE and SOCA. Sleep deprivation, acne eruption, hair loss, bad stomach....ugh it's just like a big centipede was crawling in my stomach.

I think I wore that gudetama's expression almost the whole time in my pseudoholiday phase. But yeah, I passed the SOCA. But OSCE.....hmmm, well at least it's done. Still don't know whether I could save my half million IDR or not (to pay for my remedial or not)......... Okay, no use to worry for now I have entered my true holiday phase. HOORAY!

After SOCA, I usually have a purification ritual consists of a long bath time and then sleep for at least 18 hours. Fyi, last year I spent 20 hours sleeping after SOCA. My family knew and didn't bother me as they knew already how long the sleepless night I passed.

But, this year? Well, no sleep that long after SOCA.

At the next day, I already wake up at 2.30 AM and went to campus for what-so-called elective queue. Body and mind already very exhausted after yesterday's burden and so pathetic of me, still can't get my 1st choice.

After that, I went straight to erha to do my signature Deep Pore Cleansing Therapy. Cleanse a whole lot of my pores, then finally I could sleep like mad. So, for these week I'm finally begin to live the most out of my life. I wake up and sleep at anytime I want, not thinking anymore about exams, class, watching movies, and yeah.... packing for my upcoming trip tomorrow...YAY! Whew, finally I could have my holiday for real. Still remember that last year's summer holiday was spent and gone by finishing my thesis.

Those gudetama's expressions really represent myself for these last months. Right now, I'm experiencing that gurgling sensation in the stomach, but make me happy and looks like a psychotic person in a different perspective of view. Yeah, this is what so-called butterfly in my stomach :)

Yeah, one of the rare times you could see gudetama out of its comfortable shell is when they are on holiday. LOL, this illustration "Miss Gudetama on Holiday" is so like me right now! I'm wishing you all a happy TRUE HOLIDAY PHASE :)

-Ciao-

Early Class Getaway to Tim Ho Wan

So here’s the situation that I experienced last month. You only have 1 class that day from 9 - 10 AM and it’s just 2 days left before another exam. Your friends have no urgent business and still hanging around you.

What are you gonna do on that situation, especially if you are a medical student?
A. Go home early and study by yourself
B. Ask your friend to study together
C. Ask your friend to go somewhere together
D. Go home early and sleep

My answer is C of course!
