Saturdate at Sunny Side Up

Whew, it's been almost 3 weeks since the last time I updated my blog!

Things have been so hectic lately, filled with class from morning (7 AM) 'till late noon (3-4 PM), night shift and morning shift at hospital, exams, and some organization activities. Nevertheless, my girls and I are never forget to have fun! In fact, we are more interested busy planning what kind of fun activities to do after exam rather than preparing for the exam itself (note: studying)....

After a through discussion, we finally decided to go to Central Park and tried the newly opened Sunny Side Up Restaurant on last Saturday (17/10). Sunny Side Up is a restaurant which specialized in omurice (omelette rice) and some side dishes involving eggs. I had been drooling over it for so long, but sadly the location of the outlets are too far from my home :(

But finally on this October, Sunny Side Up has opened it's branch in West Jakarta region ... Moreover it holds a giveaway of free omurice! The timing is just perfect, it was the Saturday after the last exam on Medical Emergency Block.

(ノ^ヮ^)ノ*:・゚✧

All of us got it and there we go!

Me, Janet, Ranita of Journal d'un Revêur, and Priska of Baglovingglobetrotter

This giveaway lets you to choose anything from their signature omurice dishes for FREE. Though there is an option to create your own omurice, but it's not valid for this giveaway. You could request the menu for being well-done or half-done. Well all of us love half, except Priska :P

Priska's : Omurice with Chicken Satay

Ranita's : Beef Demiglaze Omurice

Mine: Creamy Hamburg Steak Omurice

Well, I love how smooth the omelette is. The presentation is also nicely done. At first I'm quite skeptical with the "creamy" word, but surprisingly the cream is suited my taste. Not too creamy, and it tasted fresh with some tomatoes cut. I also tasted a little bit of others and I love them too! Janet ordered Creamy Salmon Omurice, unfortunately we forgot to take pics of it, besides ... she was already too hungry hahhha.

But luckily, there was a senior of mine who couldn't claim her giveaway so she gave it to me. Well, who would reject? So I went there again on October 20, which the last day of the giveaway and I ordered Creamy Salmon Omurice.

Why it looks so ...... degraded from the first time I tasted it :(

Well here is the disappointment on my second visit just 2 days after. Please do note that I ordered it to be half-done. But it tasted too dry for "half-done" and look at that wrinkle surface presentation. Since I have looked and tasted Janet's before, of course I felt a lot of degradation. The omelette supposed to be bright yellow with smooth surface. In addition to make it worse on my second visit, the creamy sauce literally tasted like instant powder milk. Very creamy and it felt like I ate rice with plain milk poured over it which is really BAD. Totally different from the creamy sauce I tasted on my first visit, whether it's in Janet's Salmon Omurice Plate or my Hamburg Omurice.

Well, for sure this is a thing that Sunny Side Up must improve: CONSISTENCY

I hope that my 3rd visit someday will be like my 1st one or even better!

Well just like what Ranita has said on her blog, the upfront service is not really good. Perhaps they are too occupied with the kitchen and it's still new opening weeks. Although it's not crowded, we have to wait quite a while before the waiter lead us to the empty seating tables since there is NO ONE in the front counter.  I hope they will improve it too!

Overall Rating: 3/5
